Your campaigning Kentish Times is urging readers to support our 'Stop the Toll' campaign to pressure government to scrap the Dartford Crossing tolls for a trial period of ONE month.
The Dartford crossing takes in nearly £200,000 PER DAY and motorists and transport groups have reacted bitterly to increases of up to 50 per cent this week.
We are urging motorists, business professionals and local authority bosses to register their support by completing the coupon in the Dartford and Swanley Times, Gravesend Reporter or joining our on-line petition.
Tolls have increased from £1 to £1.50 each way. Charges for light goods vehicles and HGVs have also increased.
By scrapping charges for an initial trial period of one month we say only then can it be shown whether the continued charging on the Dartford Crossing is fair and justified.
