She will perform on October 28

One of the leading stars of new BBC comedy The Mash Report will be performing to crowds in Canterbury next week.

Ellie Taylor’s year so far has been nothing short of busy, after joining the new satirical show on BBC Two, and recently completing a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the comedian is now on a 20-date tour of the UK.

That tour brings the 33-year-old to the Marlowe Theatre on Thursday, October 28.

Ahead of the date, Mrs Taylor said: “The Fringe was a great warm up in preparation for this tour.

“It drums your show into your head and you really get to refine every joke which is part of the process I really enjoy, trimming all the fat so all that’s left is comedy sinew.”

For her tour, titled This Guy, Ellie will be asking crowds the important questions on parenthood, how do you know if you’re ready? Should you just take the risk? What if the child has a monobrow?

The presenter, actress and comedian explained where inspiration for the tour comes from: “My shows have so far tended to be about what stage I’m at in life.

“I did one about wanting to get married, then one about being married and wishing I’d slept with more people, my husband was delighted.

“This one is about the supposed next step, the pressure to have a baby. Problem is, I have the maternal instinct of pitta bread and now all of my friends are shooting out kids.

“It’s like the domino effect, if the dominos were all infant humans who love Peppa Pig and soil themselves.”

One half of The Mash Report’s ‘newsdesk’, together with Gravesend comedian and BBC Radio Kent presenter Steve N Allen, Mrs Taylor has already appeared in a number of other shows, including Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, Disney’s The Lodge, even presenting reality hit Snog, Marry, Avoid?

And with the impressive portfolio of performances under her belt, the Basildon-born joker revealed one of her most favourite moments.

“My most memorable gig would be doing BBC’s Live at the Apollo at the Hammersmith Apollo last year, what a venue,” she said.

“Whatever happens going forward, even if I end up back being the world’s worst PA, I am so proud that I got to walk on that incredible stage and that my parents were in the audience to see me do it. One of the best days of my life. It’s up there with the day Jedward started following me on Twitter.”

Mrs Taylor is set to appear on our screens again in the weeks as part of Josh Widdecombe’s BBC sitcom Josh, before returning on The Mash Report later this year.
