The play will be performed next month.
Members of the Orchard Youth Theatre will be starring in play Gargantua.
The play is being staged as part of NT Connections - the National Theatre’s nationwide writing festival.
The festival offers companies the chance to stage new plays written for young people, and this is the first year that the Orchard Youth Theatre has taken part.
Gargantua is written by Carl Grose and 30 young people make up the cast.
It tells the story of Mr and Mrs Mungus, who get a surprise when their baby is born.
Following a pregnancy that lasts for more than two years, the couple are not greeted with the blue-eyed baby boy they were hoping for.
Instead, Mrs Mungus gives birth to a monster who has an insatiable appetite for anything that moves - including joggers.
Who will stop him, and who will decide his tragic fate?
Gargantua will be at the Orchard Theatre, Dartford, from February 21 to 22.
Tickets are £10 or £8 for those under 16.
The Orchard Youth Theatre is starting a new term and welcomes new members between seven and 18.
