Shops will come together and flip pancakes in a bid to win prizes

Pancake Day races will be held in Gravesend town centre on February 28.

Shops and businesses will come together as individuals or teams on Pancake Day in a bid to win the top prize.

Heats will take place at 12pm and 12.30pm on Shrove Tuesday, allowing people to take part in their lunch hours.

Gravesend town centre manager, Graham Long, said: “Come down and join us for this fun, free event. It’s a chance to see and support your favourite shops and businesses having a laugh, some fun and a flipping good time.”

The fifth annual Pancake Day races are being held in conjunction with the British Heart Foundation, and this year sponsored by The Buzz Local Gravesham a new magazine which is also being launched at the event. We also thank McDonalds who are supplying the pancakes and Outline Health & Fitness at Cascades Leisure Centre who are leading the pre-race warm ups this year.

The Mayor of Gravesham, Cllr Greta Goatley, will be adjudicating and present the trophies, which this year have been donated by Gravesham Trophy Centre.
