Bromley Little Theatre return to Hever Castle for its drama festival from July 27-28, with a production of Nell Gwynn.

Playwright, Jessica Swale’s take on the world of restoration theatre is set in 1660 London.

King Charles II is on the scene with a love of the loud, extravagant and sexy. A young Nell Gwynn is causing a stir amongst theatre-goers and catches the eye of the King. She charts the rise of an unlikely heroine, from her roots as a lowly orange seller in Coal Yard Alley, to her success as a celebrated actress and her hard-won place in the heart of the King.

At a time when women were second-class citizens, she fights to find her place in a world of men.

The play first featured at Shakespeare’s Globe in September 2015, before transferring to the West End in February 2016 where it won the Olivier Award for Best New Comedy.
