Show this Friday will see Nicholas Nickleby come alive on the Revelation stage

The great, great grandson of Charles Dickens will be returning to Ashford’s Revelation venue this week with his one-man production of The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby.

The actor, director and producer Gerald Dickens will appear at the St Mary’s Church site in the town centre on Friday, September 29, at 7.45pm. It follows a successful debut at the venue last October.

Inspired by the Royal Shakespeare Company’s eight-hour production of Nicholas Nickleby, this version packs the plot into just 90 minutes.

Travelling with Nicholas across the country, the audience will meet some of Charles Dickens’ greatest characters: Wackford Squeers, Smike, Vincent Crummles, Newman Noggs, Sir Mulberry Hawk and many others.

In 1993, Gerald Dickens created his first one-man show, a theatrical performance of A Christmas Carol inspired by his relative’s own energetic readings of the 1860s.

Tickets are on sale now and cost £10 in advance for adults of £12 on the door.
