Wes Fogden scored the only goal of the game as Bournemouth confined Brentford to their third straight defeat.

The Cherries midfielder fired an unstoppable shot, in the dying seconds of the first half, into the top corner from long range as the south coast club dominated from start to finish.

The home side dominated the first half as Steve Cook had a header cleared off the line as Wes Thomas and Donal McDermott went close.

It was no surprise Brentford fell behind just before half time, as Fogden curled a wonderful shot from 25 yards past Richard Lee.

The result leaves the Bees outside the top 10 and more questions are asked of manager Uwe Rosler as the west Londoners couldn’t test Bournemouth goalkeeper Darryl Flahavan.

Brentford are in action again on Saturday when they host Rochdale, who lost 2-0 at home to Tranmere.

Bournemouth: Flahavan, Malone, Francis, Cook, Addison, Pugh, Cooper, MacDonald, Fogden, McDermott, Wesley Thomas.

Subs: Zubar, Stockley, Taylor, Arter, Gregory.

Brentford: Lee, Thompson, Bidwell, Osborne, Dean, Forshaw, Douglas, Diagouraga, Donaldson, McGinn, Forrester.

Subs: Moore, Eger, Saunders, Logan, German.

Referee: Dean Mohareb (Cheshire)
