David Silva believes Fernando Torres faces the biggest season of his career after Didier Drogba left Chelsea.

The two Spaniards – who helped their all-conquering country to win Euro 2012 this summer -could line up against each other in today’s Community Shield and the Manchester City maestro believes it will mark the start of an important year for the Blues striker.

“Chelsea will notice Drogba’s absence because he was important for them. But in football things come to an end and now is the moment of truth for Torres,” Silva told The Mirror.

“It may be the most important season of his life, because he will have more minutes on the field.
