Ashley Young is only thinking about the European Championships
England’s goalscorer Ashley Young played down his winning goal against Norway as the Three Lions build up for Euro 2012.
The Manchester United winger scored after nine minutes as England cruised to victory in Oslo.
“I think I did alright,” he told ITV. “I took the goal well.
“It’s all about playing for the Euros. It’s down to the manager (on a starting position). I’ve just got to keep on with the performances that I’ve been doing.
The winger worked well with lone striker Andy Carroll, who is set to lead the line in Ukraine for the first two games with Wayne Rooney suspended.
“Me and (Andy Carroll) worked on (our partnership) in training and there were a few good combinations,” he added.
“It worked well on the goal. We got the win. We’re preparing for the Euros with this week’s game and next week’s is about preparations.
“The new manager’s come in with a few new ideas and a win’s a win.”
