Championship: Coventry 0 Millwall 1
Millwall manager Kenny Jackett hailed Leeds loanee Maik Taylor after his penalty save proved crucial in the Lions 1-0 win at Coventry last night.
The veteran goalkeeper conceded the penalty when he brought down Cody McDonald but dived to his right to palm away Gary McSheffery’s spot kick.
The south Londoners made them pay when Shane Lowry headed home 10 minutes later to seal the win that all but confirms Coventry’s relegation to League One but the Millwall boss admitted his side were fortunate.
“I thought we didn’t play as well as we have been playing and Coventry missed a number of chances,” he said.
“My goalkeeper (Taylor) I put down as man of the match, which tells its own story of the game.
“It wasn’t a fantastic performance by ourselves after the emotions of Saturday, getting to 50 points and mathematically being safe from relegation.”
