Forget ‘Envelopegate’ - here’s one Oscar fail that nobody has mentioned

Why is nobody talking about this?

If you thought the La La Land/Moonlight fiasco was the only head-in-hands moment at Sunday night’s Academy Awards, then I’ve got some bad news for you.

No, I’m not talking about the equally cringe-inducing moment the very-much-alive producer Jan Chapman’s face appeared during the ceremony’s ‘in memoriam’ segment.

I’m not even talking about Nicole Kidman’s inability to clap like a human being at the ceremony.

I’m talking about the biggest flop of last year being handed an Academy Award.

It is regarded by most as one of the film industry’s highest honours, although opposition continues to grow with claims that films are fast becoming ‘Oscar bait’

But Suicide Squad, a comic-book mash-up with character’s including some kind of man-crocodile, probably didn’t set out to win Hollywood’s grandest prize.

And without even seeing it, I can tell you it didn’t deserve one.

The reviews were terrible, even from die-hard comic book fans.

But now like gum to a shoe, Oscar-winning will stick to heroic failure Suicide Squad - even if it was for the lesser-noticed ‘best make-up and hairstyling’.

Days later the shock has worn off, but I continue to ask myself, why can’t Nicole Kidman clap normally?

Having a brand new kitchen is something that lots of people want but can only dream of. Sadly keeping up to date and making our living spaces as nice as they can be is a costly and incredibly stressful business. Even a fresh coat of paint makes all the difference but isn’t easy or quick.

Who wouldn’t love the chance to go on a shopping spree. Imagine being able to walk into a shop and choose whatever your heart desires without having to worry about how much it costs.
