Single parents living in L&Q properties have new access to support

The initiative is being run by single parent charity Gingerbread

Single parents facing problems getting into work and education can access a new support programme launched this week.

For single parent families living in housing group L&Q’s 5,534 Bexley properties, the £200,000 Empowering You initiative has been launched to help get around time constraints and improve access to affordable childcare.

Support sessions for parents are being provided by Gingerbread, a charity set up to help single parents in need.

“This project will help thousands of our single parent residents to better understand the childcare options available resulting in more of them entering long-term employment,” said Matthew Corbett, L&Q’s assistant director for community investment.

“We know there are many obstacles to single parents going to work. Through this scheme we hope to not only release untapped earning power, but also help the parents attain their real potential. This will not only help them in their personal goals but will enable them to attain the aspirations they have for their families.”

To sign up for the programme email or call 0207 428 5405.
