The event is “the first of its kind” in the borough

Residents preparing for later life are being invited to a free event taking place next month.

On Saturday, October 14, more than 30 organisations will be set up at the Civic Offices in Bexleyheath to show the work going on around the borough to support older people to keep healthy, active and involved in their community.

Activities at the borough’s leisure centres and landmarks, including Hall Place, will be on display, with the likes of Age UK, Contact the Elderly and the Alzheimer’s Society also on hand to answer questions.

Brad Smith, cabinet member for adults’ services said: “We want all people in our borough to love and enjoy later life. This event is the first of its kind in Bexley and is a fantastic way to put older members of our community, their friends, family and carers in touch with local groups and opportunities.

“There will also be an opportunity to test out new technology that can support residents to remain independent.

“If you or someone you know - whether they’re a friend, neighbour, partner or relative - would like to see just how much there is to do in the borough, please bring them along.”

The event will last from 11am to 4pm.
