Plans for an £85m investment in Abbey Wood have been revealed by developers which include new housing, a 80 to 100 bed hotel, business accommodation, a children’s nursery, a Sainsbury’s and a public square.

Pedestrian routes to the complex, proposed for the area adjacent to Harrow Manor Way and Felixstowe Road, will also be improved to make it attractive to existing and new businesses.

The project will be led by the newly created Cross Quarter Partnership, made up of Gallions Housing Association, property company Development Securities and Berkshire Investment Capital.

They believe 500 full and part-time jobs will be created in the long-term.

Steven Glancy of Berkshire Investment Capital said: “We see this as a real opportunity to push regeneration forward in Abbey Wood and act as a catalyst for further investment.

“We will soon be embarking on a comprehensive community-wide consultation and want to engage with as many local residents and businesses as possible to hear their views.”
