Barnehurst landslide causes travel chaos as Bexleyheath line closes

A significant landslide is causing travel chaos today as country-bound Southeastern services are diverted via Sidcup or Woolwich.

The incident, in Barnehurst, has seen trains delayed or cancelled today and it is thought the line towards Dartford via Bexleyheath will be closed all day.

Passenger needing to travel to stations via Bexleyheath in the country-bound direction are advised to travel to Dartford and then back up the Bexleyheath line.

A Southeastern spokesman said: “An estimate for the resumption of normal services will be provided as soon as the problem has been fully assessed.”

London-bound trains are running as usual and tickets are not being accepted on local buses.
