A murder investigation has been launched after two residents were tied up in their home during a burglary last night.
The incident took place yesterday at around 10pm when the suspects entered the house in Barnehurst, south-east London, tied up the two occupants and stole some of their property.
The police were called at 10.25pm and paramedics and London’s Air Ambulance attended and a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Although formal identification is yet to take place, officers believe the victim is 64-year-old Edward Syrad,
DCI Cliff Lyons, from the homicide and serious crime command, said: “One line of enquiry is burglary although at this early stage of the investigation we are keeping an open mind with regards to a motive.
“We would appeal for anyone who may have seen or heard anything, or has any information regarding this murder, to come forward and assist police.”
A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
No arrests have yet been made and the next of kin have been told.
