Belvedere Concert Band set to entertain families in Bexley

Belvedere Concert Band will be holding its seventh annual afternoon performance at Hall Place and Gardens in Bexley on Sunday July 15.

The event, organised by Bexley Heritage Trust, attracts families and music lovers from across the borough and beyond, and takes place on the lawn of the historic house.

It includes a mix of light classical compositions and big band songs, as well as favourites from the stage and screen.

Sarah Fosker, events and marketing manager of Bexley Heritage Trust, said that the concert has become a popular date in the local diary. She said: “A lot of people hold it dear, it is a light-hearted musical performance, and you can bring your own picnic, blanket, or low-slung chair to sit on,”

Last year 150 people braved the rain to listen to the Belvedere Concert Band play, and the year before in glorious sunshine, the event was attended by 500 music-lovers of all ages.

Ms Fosker said: “We are hoping for nice weather this year, so people can appreciate the beautiful setting.”

Hall Place is a Grade I listed Tudor mansion, built for a former Lord Mayor of London in 1537, and located within 65 acres of award-winning gardens.

It has recently been restored, and houses the Bexley Museum Collection which contains over 50,000 objects from the area’s social history.

The concert starts at 2pm, weather dependent, and will last for two hours with an interval. Tickets cost £6 on the gate, with under 16s free.
