A cheque for £2,000 was presented to the Sidcup Cancer Research UK branch by Bexley and Sidcup Lions Club.

The club raised the money by organising a social event for the community and presented the donation to branch manager Jane Beats.

At the presentation, club president Karamjit Matharu said: “We are committed to supporting various charities locally and internationally.

“To name few, these include Guy’s Cancer unit at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup; prostate cancer research at Darenth Valley Hospital; Lions International Blood Research Appeal (Libra) at Kings College Hospital London, which deals with cancer and other blood disorders and Montessori Education for Autism in Blackheath,

“In addition, there are always small charities and community services that are always on our agenda, like Pop in Parlours within the borough of Bexley providing social facilities for the senior citizens and contributing to food bank at local church.”
