Awards were presented to more than 40 of Bexley’s foster carers and supported lodging providers yesterday (June 26).

The carers picked up awards for long service, completion of training, support and development standards for carers.

Bexley’s fostering team organised the ceremony at the Civic Offices to thank them for the care and support they give.

Cabinet member for children’s services, cllr Philip Read and director of children’s services Jacky Tiotto presented the awards.

Cllr Read said: “We are lucky to have some of the most dedicated and passionate carers here in Bexley.

“These awards not only recognise the quality of the care they provide, but their determination to keep on providing the love and support that so many children and young people in Bexley need.”

More carers are needed, in particular for older children, children with additional needs and children from a black or minority ethnic background.
