Bexley schoolchildren recently spent a morning picking up litter at Danson Park in an effort to do their bit for the environment.

Year 4 pupils of Brampton Primary Academy, which is based in Brampton Road, Bexleyheath, have been studying litter and pollution in class, and as part of some hands on experience collected more than 10 bags full of litter, making sure to separate them according to recyable and non-recycable.

Year 4 teacher Mr O’Reilly said: “I am very proud of the children.

“They’re such a hardworking bunch that it was very easy to persuade them to take part in this event.”

The children enjoyed the litter-picking and also took part in some weeding to help the Danson Garden maintain its beauty.

The morning ended with a picnic in the sunshine, which they all made sure to tidyup themselves afterwards.
