Bexley disability service moving location

A flexible service has been developed for adults with learning disabilities across Bexley.
It will be used by people who visit the Ken Boyce Centre in Slade Green, and they will now be able to go to the Crayford Community Centres, Woodside Road, as well as Crook Log and Erith Leisure Centre.
The change will take place in November after a three-month transition period when services will shift gradually.
Cllr Chris Taylor said: “The decision to close the Ken Boyce Centre was reached after long and in-depth consultation and I believe it fits in with our wider ambition to modernise and improve our services for adults with learning disabilities.”
Users, carers and staff at the Ken Boyce Centre were all involved in consultations. It had been running from the centre since 1996.
The council says it aims to offer users greater independence and integration with the community, and going to facilities open to the general public will help with this. There are currently 41 people using the service.
