Dozens of streets in the borough have been closed to allow residents to throw parties over the long weekend, starting today (Saturday) and carrying on until Tuesday as people make the most of the time off.

There will also be a celebrations thrown by the council in Bexleyheath Broadway which will double as the annual civic parade, starting at 11am on Monday. This will include the unveiling of a plaque to mark the 100th anniversary of Bexleyheath Clock Tower.

On the same day Golden Acre Park will be replicating similar scenes across the country in thousands of different venues with a beacon lighting ceremony to commemorate 60 years on the throne for Queen Elizabeth II.
