Bexley residents encouraged to have say on council tax

Bexley residents are encouraged to have their say on changes to council tax support.

To send a link to this page to a friend, you must be logged in.

The move comes as the Government announced Council Tax Benefit will cease in April next year and is to be replaced by schemes designed by local councils.

Bexley Council is proposing all claimants pay a fixed percentage of their council tax and are eligible for council tax support on the remainder.

Pensioners will be no worse off than under the current system and the council is also considering a hardship fund for those faced with exceptional needs.

A survey about the proposals will be sent to a sample of residents currently receiving Council Tax Benefit and a sample of council taxpayers.

It will also be available in libraries and council offices.
