Between then and mid-November there will be repaving of footways, new streetlights and new street furniture on the Broadway from its junction with Albion Road to its junction with Arnsberg Way.

Council leader Teresa O’Neill said: “I’m looking forward to being able to officially declare the works started.

“I’m convinced the successful completion of the scheme will make a significant contribution to making Bexleyheath a more vibrant and attractive town centre in London.”

The council says the programme has been designed to minimise traffic disruption, meaning work will be suspended from November 11 to January 13 next year to cater for the busy Christmas and New Year period.
