Yorkshire Building Society, Broadway, recently helped out at the local food bank

A building society in Bexleyheath is celebrating 10 years of volunteering throughout the community, and seeking more opportunities to help other causes.

The Yorkshire Building Society on the Broadway, launched its volunteering scheme in 2007, and so far over 70,000 hours of colleague time has been donated to charities around the UK, including, recently sorting out donations at Bexley Foodbank.

Charities, causes and community groups that need support can call into the branch, to find volunteers.

Kirstie Wilson, manager of the Bexleyheath branch, said: “Volunteers’ Week, this week, is a great reminder of the contribution voluntary work can make and we know first hand about the impact it has brought in Bexleyheath.

“Over the past 20 years we have seen that time can be just as valuable a gift as money to charities and that’s why the society;s programme gives us the oppoortunity to support projects in our community here and we want to hear from more local groups that need support.”
