Police have issued an enforcement notice telling them they need to leave

A number of caravans have taken up residence at the site of the old Civic offices in Bexley.

Several caravans have been spotted on the site, opposite the cinema, since yesterday, June 13.

A spokesperson for Bexley council, said: “The police have served an enforcement notice requiring the caravans and vehicles to leave the site today.

“The land is owned by Sports Direct who are responsible for removing any rubbish once the site is vacated.”

Multiple rubbish piles have been mounting up on the site, owned by Sports Direct, since it has been taken over.

The sporting goods supplier purchased the site last year, after it had been left vacant by Tesco, who bought it in 2014 from the council.

Sports Direct have been approached for comment.
