Government minister Norman Lamb has visited Thamesmead care home Marlborough Court to mark National Care Week.

Mr Lamb unveiled a plaque to celebrate the home being named best care team at a national ceremony in April.

He said: “It was great to see the award-winning care at Marlborough Court Care Home. Everyone deserves to be well looked after in their later years and so it is essential that we provide good and compassionate care that treats people with dignity and respect.”

In addition to a tour of the home, the day’s programme included a presentation provided by Mr Lamb entitled: care homes – what makes a difference?

Home manager, Maggie Candy said: “When the winners of the care awards were invited to meet with Mr Lamb at Whitehall last December to discuss care issues, he indicated that he wanted to meet front line staff so I took the opportunity to invite him to visit us at Marlborough Court.

“His visit was a fantastic chance for us to take him on a tour of our facilities and acknowledge our hard working staff. Mr Lamb’s interest in our home has resulted in an exciting event for all our residents and the community to be involved in”.
