ACTRESS Pam Ferris joined celebrations marking the 10th anniversary of an organisation that offers support for carers.

Carers Support Bexley welcomed the Darling Buds of May and Harry Potter star to their Annual General Meeting for the event at Hall Place in Bourne Road, Bexley, on Tuesday.

Pam Ferris, vice president of the Princess Royal Trust for Carers, of which Carers Support Bexley is a network member, met carers and heard how they look after their relatives or friends who are sick, disabled or have mental health issues.

She said: "I am delighted to be invited to celebrate the work that Carers' Support Bexley has provided to unpaid family carers in the area for the last 10 years.

"Caring for a loved-one can be demanding and tough and it's important that carers are getting the support they need. Today is an important occasion for recognising the huge amount of time, effort and devotion that the staff at the centre put in to help make carers' lives a little easier."

Carers Support Bexley, established in 1999, provides a wide range of support and information to over 700 carers in the borough.
