Schools, businesses and residents are taking part in a new event sprinkling an extra dash of Christmas spirit around Blackfen.

Every day in December, a different window is being revealed, featuring its number and a festive scene for the public’s enjoyment.

The event is run by Our Lady of the Rosary Church, which is celebrating its 80th birthday.

A spokeswoman said: “We have lots of events planned for our anniversary year but we really wanted to do something positive for the whole wider local community.

“The community advent windows are proving very popular and I’ve already been asked by people not involved this year if they can be involved next year. We’re hoping to expand upon the idea and incorporate more community participation.”
