A TEENAGER was arrested at gunpoint after reports that he was carrying a fake handgun.

The 15-year-old was arrested by firearms officers with three other teenagers in Broadway, Bexleyheath, by Upton Road just after 2pm on Monday.

The arrests came after police were called to a fight outside McDonald's in Broadway in which a youth was set upon by five others.

Bystanders witnessed one youth pick a replica gun off the ground, leading Broadway to be closed off between Upton Road and Avenue Road.

One witness told the Times: "Some armed coppers came out of nowhere and arrested four guys.

"They were pretty surprised and just did what they were told and were put on the floor and into handcuffs."

The victim of the assault suffered facial injuries but police have not spoken to him.

The 15-year-old arrested for possession of a firearm was bailed to return to police on June 23.

Three teenagers aged 15, 16 and 17 were arrested at the same time for possession of a firearm without intent and were also bailed to return to police on June 23.
