Emergency services and council workers have been busy dealing with a simulated train crash today as Bexley council stages a mock accident as it stepped up its preparations for the Olympic games.
More than 100 volunteers are taking part in the exercise in Bexleyheath as the police and the council stepped up their preparations for the Olympics Games.
Bexley Civic Centre in Bexleyheath Broadway is being used as a reception centre for the “casualties” in the simulated train crash.
The council’s chief executive Will Tuckley said: “This is the first exercise of its kind in Bexley and it is an important test of our plans should be called on to respond to a major emergency.”
A Welling man is one of nine who have been charged with violent disorder in connection with the trouble which marred Millwall Football Club’s FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on April 13.
