Rape conviction is quashed a year after guilty verdict

Judges sitting at the Court of Appeal have quashed the conviction of a Brockley man.

Romaine Blackwood, 29, of Claxton Path, was free to walk out of the Court of Appeal on February 8 after judges Lord Justice Richards, Mr Justice Kenneth Parker and Justice Lindblom quashed his seven year conviction for rape.

He had been convicted of the offence at Croydon Crown Court in March last year.
