Police are appealing for information after a 50-year-old man was stabbed in Elm Park

Sidcup Police Station, which is on the same street where Harry Potter actor Rob Knox was murdered, will close permanently next Friday

Bexley Police has confirmed that it will move all operations to Marlowe House, which is further up Station Road from the current site.

Rob, 16, who played Marcus Belby in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, was killed outside the Metro Bar on May 16 2008.

Rob’s father Colin Knox said: “I think the presence of a building means something, people like to see police station’s for the safety of the community.

“My other son still lives in the area with his mum and it’s a comfort to know there are still bobbys on the beat”

There are currently six volunteers working at Sidcup Police Station between 12pm and 4pm from Monday to Friday and from 10am to 2pm on a Saturday.

They will all move to Marlowe House on Monday March 19.

Chief Superintendent Dave Stringer said: “The user friendly premises at Marlowe House will be a nicer environment for those attending, those working there and volunteers who give up their time to provide services to the local community.

“Savings generated from the closure of this police station will go towards reducing the impact of these challenging financial pressures MPs currently face.”

When the station closes the only full-time stations in the borough will be in Bexleyheath and Belvedere.

Sidcup Community Group said: “As we feared, the closure will take place before any alternative premises in central Sidcup are found.

“There is hardly enough room at Marlowe House for 12 officers for two wards, let alone 18 officers for three wards.”
