A man and a woman have appeared in court charged with the murder of Bexleyheath dad-of-three Prabjot Singh Rayat.

Robert Burrows, 33, of Dylan Road and Surinder Chana, 44, of Lower Park Road, both Belvedere, were charged with Mr Rayat’s murder last Thursday (14) and appeared at Bromley Magistrates the following day.

The pair were remanded in custody for an Old Bailey hearing on September 21.

The body of the 54-year-old Mr Rayat, who lived in Pickford Lane, was found at his Thamesmead business, Rayat Autos in the Nathan Way Industrial Estate, in the early hours of June 8.

A post-mortem examination at Greenwich Mortuary the following day gave the cause of death as a stab wound.
