Crayford gran walks 169km in honour of tragic grandson

A Crayford ambulance worker is walking 169km in honour of her grandson who died when he was five months old.
Tina Mansell, 57, is taking on the challenge with her 43-year-old colleague, Andy Breeden and they will walk from Newbridge in Wales to Hampton Court over the course of four days starting on August 12.
Her grandson, Archie King-Lodge, was born on September 7 last year, nine weeks premature and with organs on the outside of his body and unable to breathe without a ventilator. He died on February 23.
They hope to raise £5,000 and the money will be donated to The Heath University of Wales Hospital, who cared for him. The distance represents one km for every day Archie was alive.
Mrs Mansell, of Mill Place, Crayford, said: “When Archie died I was absolutely devastated. My team-mate asked me if I wanted to do something to make myself feel helpful.
“It’s going to be hard going and a little bit scary, but with Archie in mind it will get us through.”
