A Crayford mum has been celebrating after her start-up business made it through to the finals of a competition for entrepreneurs.

Charlotte Wise used to work in sales, but she decided to set up an online business selling affordable children’s gifts after the birth of her son, Alfie.

The business, Bippity Boppity Shopity, has now been shortlisted for Homepreneur of the Year by website familiesonline.co.uk.

The 29-year-old said: “I was completely shocked when I heard the news. To be honest I am still pinching myself. I am over the moon.

“I have always wanted to have my own business, but I never had an idea and then ten months ago my little boy was born and christened.

“I received some lovely gifts, but mums and dads had broken the bank to buy them. I wanted to provide quality gifts to be able to fit in with tight family budgets.

“It started off where I just started to show bits and pieces to my other friends that are mums and they started to buy bits and pieces, and then next-door neighbours became interested and it has just gone from there.

“It is all under £20, so it is affordable.

“It’s brilliant to be able to do this as well as stay at home and be a mum, so I feel really lucky. I am living the dream at the moment.

“Everyone I speak to has said what a great product I have got, and I am so grateful for their support and that of my extremely supportive husband, Dan.”

Votes for the Homepreneur of the Year competition are open until Sunday, October 16 at: https://www.familiesonline.co.uk/life/news/homepreneur-finalists-revealed

Having a brand new kitchen is something that lots of people want but can only dream of. Sadly keeping up to date and making our living spaces as nice as they can be is a costly and incredibly stressful business. Even a fresh coat of paint makes all the difference but isn’t easy or quick.

Who wouldn’t love the chance to go on a shopping spree. Imagine being able to walk into a shop and choose whatever your heart desires without having to worry about how much it costs.
