AN ARTIST has won the chance to have her work intricate painting displayed in a central London exhibition.

Frances Chapman, of Rectory Lane, Sidcup, was one of 86 finalists in a national newspaper's watercolour competition whose work will be displayed in the Bankside Gallery from September 10 to 21. The 41-year-old beat 1,200 other entries by painting an imaginary landscape scene called Skewbald, made up of thousands of tiny dots. The artist said: "It is very time consuming. This one probably took me four or five months to complete. I get through about two brushes every day."

Her painting will be auctioned at the end of the exhibition and is currently going for £645.
