A drug dealer in Erith was arrested last night after becoming stuck in mud whilst attempting to flee.

At around 7.45pm on Sunday, February 11, officers observed two men acting suspiciously in a vehicle and indicated for them to stop.

The vehicle left and a pursuit was authorised.

A short time later the suspect vehicle came to a stop after colliding with street furniture in High Street, Erith.

The two occupants then fled on foot.

Officers conducted an area search and one of the suspects was located nearby, stuck in mud in a river bed.

He was freed by the London Fire Brigade, and then arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to supply.

He has been taken to a north London police station where he currently remains.

A quantity of drugs was recovered from the vehicle.

The second suspect has not been traced and enquiries continue.

Anybody with information that could assist police is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
