A firearms office has died after shooting himself at North Woolwich police station on Sunday (13).

The incident happened at around 2.30pm after a man in his 30s, who is said to work in aviation security at City Airport, walked into the Albert Road station before fatally shooting himself.

He was pronounced dead at 2.52pm the same day despite efforts from police and paramedics to save him.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

His next of kin has been informed but he has not been formally identified.
