Britain’s first female Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher has died this morning following a stroke.

Baroness Thatcher, who twice stood as a Conservative candidate in the Dartford seat in the early 1950s and lost, was 87.

She met her husband Denis in a dance hall in Dartford shortly after being formally confirmed as Conservative candidate for Dartford in 1951.
