It’s that time of year again - Danson Festival is returning to Bexley.

The headliners for the free festival on Sunday, July 7, have been announced and local three-piece band Leogun will aim to light up the park.

They have been hailed as the “purest and most powerful young rock band on the scene.”

Tommy Smith, Mike Johnson and Matt Lloyd, who comprise the band, will play in Danson Park just two days after supporting Bon Jovi in Hyde Park.

They have also been signed to music management label co-founded by Elton John, Rocket Music.

Smith said: “Whenever one of my favourite acts played London, I made sure I was at the show.

“I was always trying to get backstage so I could meet people and tell them about my music.

“It’s crazy how it all started with me being cheeky and ending up in the right place at the right time. You can’t be arrogant, but you’ve got to at least ask for what you want. I’m one of those people who will ask.”

DJ and actor Craig Charles will also be performing with his Fantasy Funk Band.

The project was first imagined in 2007 and Charles, famous for acting in Red Dwarf and Coronation Street, has put together a who’s who of the UK including Mick Talbot from Dexys Midnight Runners while guest singers have included Beverley Knight and Lisa Stansfield.
