MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford David Evennett was guest speaker at a meeting of Erith Veterans Club’s Women’s Institute this week.

On Tuesday the Conservative MP spoke in front of more than fifty members of the WI at the Clubhouse in Park Crescent, Erith.

Mr Evenett discussed his experience as an MP being a government whip, and his appointment as acting minister for sport, heritage and culture.

He said “The role of an MP has changed significantly since I was first elected in 1983. Today, Members of Parliament spend more time dealing with constituents’ cases and visiting local organisations. Living in the constituency, I understand the issues and appreciate the problems that people might face. That’s why I got into politics - because I wanted to change things and give people a voice in Parliament.”
