Man hands himself in after footage of him appearing to steal 90-year-old’s purse in Erith circulates

Bexley police circulated the footage and then it was shared hundreds of times

Yesterday, police released CCTV footage of a suspect stealing a 90-year-old woman’s purse in Erith, but they’ve announced he has since handed himself in.

Bexley officers posted the footage, to their Facebook page on August 9, which showed a man appearing to steal the elderly woman’s purse at Riverside Shopping Centre.

Police said there was a lot of money in the purse, but the suspect made no attempts to tell the lady who was still nearby.

The footage has snice been shared hundreds of times, and the supect handed himself into police yesterday.

He has since been arrested.

A spokesperson for Bexley police said: “We would like to thank you for your continued support with sharing our circulations and your assiatance with identifying these offenders.”
