Olympic medallist Gemma Gibbons is due to visit her home club tomorrow.
The 25-year-old, who went to Harris Academy Falconwood (formerly Westwood College), was expected to drop by the Metro judo club in Kidbrooke.
Gemma came second in the women’s 78kg judo. She is preparing to head to Edinburgh University to begin a teacher-training course next month.
Head coach at Metro, Mick Murphy, said: “It’s great. She is a fantastic girl, very down to earth. It shows her amazing willpower in getting to the Olympics. We expect she will be at Rio.
“The other members all watched her win silver. She is an inspiration.”
Two Thamesmead residents have been jailed for their part in a gang carrying out an internet scam attack which netted them a woman’s life savings worth £1 million.
