Olympic bronze medallist Greg Searle made a surprise appearance at a rowing taster session in Danson Park, Bexleyheath.

The 40-year-old, who also won a gold medal in the Barcelona Games in 1992 and bronze in Atlanta four years later, came to Bexley to promote rowing and inspire the next generation of budding Olympians. He even brought his medal along for children to play with.

Mr Searle said: “I want to get involved with legacy. My kids are getting to the age now where they’re interested in sport so I know how important it is to have programmes like the ones going on today.”

The event was organised by London Youth Rowing.
