Bexley will fall silent this weekend as the borough marks Remembrance Day.

Services are taking place at war memorials and churches across this weekend, as residents look to pay their respects to the servicemen and women who have fought and died for their country.

Bexleyheath will host its traditional parade and wreath laying, with members of the public encouraged to attend their local service and mark the occasion.

Here are the Remembrance Day services in Bexley this weekend:

Bexleyheath War Memorial - 1045am on Sunday, November 12. Two minutes silence will be held at 11am following a parade from the civic centre to the memorial on Oakland Road. Mayor of Bexley Peter Reader will be in attendance along with reverend Trevor Wyatt, vicar at Christchurch Bexleyheath, Captain Steve Slaney of 265 Support Squadron, and the Bexleyheath and Welling Branch of Royal British Legion, to attend the Remembrance Sunday service and laying of a wreath at the war memorial on Oaklands Road.


St Paulinus Church, Crayford - 10am on Sunday November 12. A Remembrance Sunday service will held at St Paulinus Church along with a Remembrance Sunday School from 9.45am in the Youth Hall.


Christ Church, Erith - 10am on Sunday November 12. Christ Church Erith will be holding an hour long service which will then be taken outside to hold a two minute silence at the church’s Grade II listed war memorial.


Holy Trinity Church, Lamorbey, Sidcup - 10am on Sunday November 12.


Christ Church, Sidcup - 10.30am on Sunday November 12. A service will be held with members of the Boys Brigade and Brownies present, the service will conclude with the sounding of the Last Post.


Saint John the Evangelist Church, Sidcup - 10.45am, Sunday, November 12. A service will be held followed by a two minutes silence at 11am. A procession will then walk to Sidcup War Memorial on The Green to pay respects.


Thamesmead War Memorial - 2.40pm on Friday, November 10. An Act of Remembrance has been organised by Thamesmead and Abbey Wood Royal British Legion will begin at 2.57pm on Friday at the clock tower.


St Michael’s Church, East Wickham, Welling - 10am on Sunday, November 12. A service will be held, with two minutes silence at 11am.
