The former post office in Crayford

The Post Office is currently closed

Residents are still waiting to discover where a new Post Office will be in their town.

Crayford’s Post Office was based in the Mace Store on Crayford Road, but the service was removed earlier this year.

Work is being done to replace the service, with locals currently forced to travel to Bexleyheath or Dartford to access Post Office services.

A spokesperson from the Post Office said: “Following the withdrawal of the premises for post Office use, Crayford Post Office remains temporarily closed while we look for a new operator.

“We would like to assure customers that we are exploring all the options and are currently talking to interested parties to find a solution which will enable us to reinstate a Post Offce service to the local community.

“We know how important Post Office services are to people in Crayford and we apologise to customers for the inconvenience caused.”

Crayford MP David Evennett has been pushing the service to provide a new base in the town.

The Post Office advised the Tory MP: “there are a number of interested local businesses who are going throguh the application process.”

Mr Evennett commented: “I have continued to raise concerns with the Post Office, who have assured me that they are working hard to reopen a branch as soon as possible.”

“However, I am very concerned about the impact this is having on local residents and businesses, and I shall continue to pursue this on behalf of my constituents.”
