Sidcup man completes Olympian challenge

A Sidcup man has run 2,012 miles in a year to raise money for EllenorLions Hospice.
The 46-year-old took up the gruelling challenge after his father-in-law died from leukaemia last year and completed it by running four miles around Danson Park on Saturday of last week to coincide with the end of the Olympics.
Mr Stevens said: “I’m proud to have completed my challenge. At the start I didn’t realise what a commitment it would be.
“It’s a big personal achievement and I’m happy to have raised so much for such deserving charities.”
As well as recreational running he took on organised races like the London Marathon and the London to Brighton 100km challenge.
Mr Stevens was joined by family and friends in Danson Park and his wife Judy presented him with a gold medal to recognise his achievement.
