Two students from Bexley College have won awards for their excellence in plumbing.

Lewis Southgate and Ben Fellows came first and runner-up respectively in this year’s Chartered Heating and Plumbing Engineers Kent branch Plumbing Student Of The Year awards.

The pair are both students on the college’s plumbing, heating and ventilation apprenticeship course and were put forward for the accolade by their tutors for their efforts.

They received their awards from CIPHE chief executive Kevin Wellman at a ceremony at the Mercure Great Danes Hotel in Maidstone.

Their tutor, John Mitchell, said: “Lewis has excellent attendance and punctuality.

“He has a great attitude and has never been afraid to volunteer for extra work. He has been a pleasure to teach, a great success story for Bexley College and fully deserves this recognition.

“Ben has a very good attitude and a genuine interest in plumbing. This led to him being recommended for jobs and he quickly picked up an apprenticeship.

“He has excellent attendance and has been a very good student at Bexley College. He will have a very successful future.”
