TEAM Boris were going hell-for-leather a couple of weeks ago and then had to make apologies all around.

The PR-obsessed Team Boris were trying to do exactly what they accuse Ken of doing - manipulating crime statistics.

They sent out a press release last week claiming "Bromley residents are suffering from the third highest crime levels in London."

Boris Johnson said: "Bromley's residents deserve to feel safe on their streets and in their homes, and these figures show why they don't.

"The statistics are clear: last year, every day in Bromley, there were 69 crimes, including 17 violent crimes."

It turns out that Bromley does not have the third highest crime level at all but the third highest rate for business burglaries. A crucial omission of a couple of words there...

In fact, out of the 32 London boroughs, 23 are in fact more crime ridden that Bromley.

The Tory hopeful's attempt at installing fear into the residents of Bromley had the reverse result.

Perhaps Boris should get back to school and revise his maths in case he wins the election today.
